Natural Stone Porcelain

Reproducing some of the most popular natural stone pavings available, The Pavestone 'Natural' Porcelain range has an exceptional and convincing look and feel to the Granite, Sandstone and Yorkstone reproductions.

Almost indistinguishable from natural stone, however porcelain comes without the need for constant cleaning and sealing attributed to natural stone paving.

'Natural' porcelain tiles can be profiled with a choice of edge profiles for making steps or smooth edges for raised patios.

See Pavestone Bespoke.

Key features of Natural porcelain:

  • R11Anti-slip Finish.

  • Natural porcelain paving tiles will not be affected by the seasonal weather changes and will not deteriorate in freezing weather conditions that can see some stone surfaces deteriorate gradually.

  • Natural porcelain paving tiles are resistant to acid and alkali chemicals such as fertilizers and lawn treatments. Moss and algae cannot get established as they can on stone.

  • Natural porcelain paving tiles will not experience colour fading. Blacks will stay black, not turn to grey, light colours will stay faithful and will not turn grey/brown. In summary they will stay looking aesthetically as laid for many years with minimal cleaning maintenance.

R11 Anti-slip Finish is the latest development to meet the growing demand for porcelain outdoor paving. This unique finish roughens the tile surface without changing its appearance giving good grip underfoot in damp and wet weather.

Laying Comments

Lay on an MOT Type 1 or GSB aggregate sub-base, over a geo-textile covering.

Set the paving tiles on a full wet mortar bed (40mm), using a 5:1 sharp sand : cement ratio.

Cut tiles with a 'Diamond Porcelain Cutting Blade' (circular no teeth) on a hand tool  or table saw.  Use 'water dust suppression'.

It is essential to use a Priming Slurry, which should be applied to the underside of each paving tile just prior to laying.

Joint width ideally 5mm (optimum cosmetically).

Porcelain is manufactured in batches and the the colour and texture can vary from batch to batch. It is therefore essential to lay the paving by mixing the tiles from each of the packs that are to be laid. This ensures that the overall desired hue is achieved and evens out any slight colour discrepancies. Laying your patio one pallet at a time can lead to slight but visible colour banding.

Keep a note of the 'batch code' of the porcelain being laid in case you need more to complete or extend your paved area. This can be found on the packaging (usually a number followed by a letter, or a six digit number.

flexible jointing grout should be used to joint the tiles and care must be taken not to let it dry on the surface of the tile.

Please refer to our laying instructions if in any doubt.

Keep your paving looking superb, year after year!
