Apulia Porcelain
Apulia Porcelain
Apulia is the perfect choice for creating a dynamic modern look to your garden. These pavers radiate their stunning natural stone characteristics and are equally suited situated in both traditional and contemporary garden settings.
Three popular stone colour ways and texture, Apulia porcelain has many benefits over other paving materials. It's more durable, will stay looking cleaner for longer, is easier to maintain and will not be susceptible to frost freeze/thaw erosion that some concrete and stone pavings suffer from.
Apulia porcelain tiles can be profiled with a choice of edge profiles for making steps or smooth edges for raised patios.

Key features
- R11Anti-slip Finish**
- Apulia porcelain paving tiles will not be affected by the seasonal weather changes and will not deteriorate in freezing weather conditions that can see some stone surfaces deteriorate gradually.
- Apulia porcelain paving tiles are resistant to acid and alkali chemicals such as fertilizers and lawn treatments. Moss and algae cannot get established as they can on stone.
- Apulia porcelain paving tiles will not experience colour fading. Blacks will stay black, not turn to grey, light colours will stay faithful and will not turn grey/brown. In summary they will stay looking aesthetically as laid for many years with minimal cleaning maintenance.
NOTES
* With 'Rectified' porcelain paving the dimensional variation between the size of individual paving slabs, within a batch, is much less than that of a non-rectified tile. This is because it is cut to size after the tile has been fired (baked) in the kiln. Typical variance +/- 2mm.
The actual tile dimensions are 'nominal' and may be less than the stated nominal measurements by up to 5mm. However, in each batch the variation between tiles will only be +/-2mm. When tiling you should always use tiles from the same production batch.
Always check the batch number on the packaging when laying porcelain paving as this will ensure the variation in sizes between the slabs is minimal.
** R11 Anti-slip Finish is the latest development to meet the growing demand for porcelain outdoor paving. This unique finish roughens the tile surface without changing its appearance giving good grip underfoot in damp and wet weather.

Laying Comments
Apulia paving tiles are rectified to give a calibrated, dimensional accuracy. This enables closer jointing so that the paving can appear as one large uninterrupted, seamless surface of stone flooring.
A rectified floor tile is one whose edges are perfectly vertical with respect to it's surface. This is a result of precise machining of a regular unrectified tile, so that each of the four sides will be at a 90° angle to the top and bottom faces of the tile.
Lay on an MOT Type 1 or GSB aggregate sub-base, over a geo-textile covering.
Set the paving tiles on a full wet mortar bed (40mm), using a 5:1 sharp sand : cement ratio.
Cut tiles with a 'Diamond Porcelain Cutting Blade' (circular no teeth) on a hand tool or table saw. Use 'water dust suppression'.
It is essential to use a Priming Slurry, which should be applied to the underside of each paving tile just prior to laying.
Joint width ideally 5mm (optimum cosmetically).
Porcelain is manufactured in batches and the colour and texture can vary from batch to batch. It is therefore essential to lay the paving by mixing the tiles from each of the packs that are to be laid. This ensures that the overall desired hue is achieved and evens out any slight colour discrepancies. Laying your patio one pallet at a time can lead to slight but visible colour banding.
Keep a note of the 'batch code' of the porcelain being laid in case you need more to complete or extend your paved area. This can be found on the packaging (usually a number followed by a letter, or a six digit number).
A flexible jointing grout should be used to joint the tiles and care must be taken not to let it dry on the surface of the tile.
Please refer to our laying instructions if in any doubt.
