Pavestone are introducing a new environmentally friendly paving range for 2010. Fairford Paving is named after the historic Cotswold town that borders the producing factory and where the paving stone colours can be found naturally in abundance.
Jon Layton, Commercial Director for Pavestone, explains, “These days it would be irresponsible to manufacture new concrete products that didn’t seek to improve on the environmental impact of those products that we seek to replace in the marketplace”. “Green issues are a real area of concern for consumers today and most if presented with a ‘greener’ option, without sacrificing aesthetics, quality or having to pay more, would select a greener solution”
The Fairford and Campden patio paving ranges are manufactured using 100% 'green' electricity. Electricity produced totally from renewable resources, which includes wind turbines and a hydro electric scheme in the generation. In addition the paving ranges are produced using recycled and reclaimed aggregates within the concrete mix, further boosting their ‘eco friendly’ credentials.
Pavestone is currently working with the Carbon Trust in order to measure their carbon output and will soon ‘Carbon Label’ their concrete products. Consumers then will be able to compare the carbon ‘footprint’ of a Pavestone pre-cast landscaping product, such as a paving flag, against other measuring manufacturers in order to make an informed choice.
Pavestone are exhibiting at Ecobuild, Earls Court, London 2-4 March 2010. www.ecobuild.co.uk
