Environmental and Ethical Trading Policy Statement
Pavestone is fully aware of the various complex social, ethical, ecological and
environmental concerns surrounding the manufacture of concrete products and
quarrying of natural stone, especially in India.
Pavestone is totally committed to minimising the impact its business activities
have on the natural environment and will strive to reduce potentially harmful
carbon emissions in the manufacturing process, at quarrying stages and during
transportation. The effects are currently being independently tested, analysed
and quantified; we then aim to publish the results later as a series of easy to
understand "Footprint Facts" with a clear agenda on how we intend to mitigate
the impact of these carbon emissions.
We believe that our supply chain produces the best possible working conditions
within the quarrying environment, together with provisions for both heath and
safety. Sustainability is championed and traditional craft skills thrive
alongside the utilisation of modern technology.
Pavestone deplores the use of forced and child labour in all forms of
manufacturing and stone extraction. There is no evidence of child labour in use
at any stage in our audited supply chain, in any country.
We endorse workers rights to form or belong to trade unions and promote fair
rates of pay within a structure of regular employment and reasonable hours of
working.
All employees and sub-contractor workers are treated equally, regardless of
gender, ethnic group, religion or political opinions.
Quality is paramount in everything we do, from the products offered and the
service delivered to sourcing and transportation. We continue to monitor and
improve standards of suppliers at every stage of production.
Pavestone works only with reputable and reliable suppliers that meet our own
stringent requirements and those set by the industry. All of our Indian
suppliers now meet our requirement to have ISO 9001: 2000 Quality Assurance
accreditation in place. Also, our preferred supplier "Malbros Group" is the
proud holder of numerous Government export awards over the last decade.
