Climate Change Policy

Pavestone recognises it has a responsibility to minimise the impact caused by its operations and supply chain on the climate. As such we continue to review, measure and monitor our operational procedures so that we continue to make improvements to reduce emissions that contribute towards Climate Change. This policy is implemented in accordance and conjunction with our Environmental Policy.

Pavestone ensures that it meets the legal responsibilities covered by the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA). The Integrated Pollution Control and Air Pollution Control by Local Authorities measuring the impact of our operations on the local air, water and land and ensuring we operate within the approved guidelines.

Actions undertaken and being undertaken to improve upon our basic local and legal requirements include:

• A change to 100% 'green' electricity at our production plants and offices in January 2008. Electricity that is used to power our production machinery, light, heat and general power is supplied from renewable resources via generation which is Climate Change Levy exempt. Sources which contribute include wind turbines and hydro electric schemes. Audited by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance within ISO 9001 : 2000.

• We are currently working with the Carbon Trust in order to measure our carbon output . Using this knowledge will help us to create changes to our manufacturing and supply chain activities to reduce the amount of carbon we produce. In doing this we hope to be able to demonstrate our progress and positive contribution towards the slowing of climate change.

	Pavestone's concrete production facilities have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard which is awarded to organisations that measure, manage and reduce their carbon footprint.
